GE Logiq U

Next generation ultrasound system

What began as an advanced concept for a full-touchscreen, sit/stand ultrasound system quickly became an internally funded skunkworks program. Leveraging the internal funding and GE Fastworks methodology, Project U went through multiple development rounds of building Hardware and Digital MVPs to prove out the ergonomic benefits and workflow enhancements of this new form-factor for ultrasound systems.

3D Ergonomic Scans

3D scans of ergonomic display positions in accordance with common scanning workflows were generated to validate display height and angles. These dimensions were used to create the 80-20 modular frame for the ultrasound cart MVP.

MVP

A range of low-fidelity prototypes were created to test with ultrasound sonographers and ultrasound hospital purchasers to validate the basic idea and advanced features being offered. The learning gained from each round of MVPs strengthened the team and enabled additional ultrasound systems to benefit from the full-touch interface design, tangle-free probe cable management, and sit/stand adjustable height.
